THE TWENTY FIRST ANNUAL
CROSSROADS INVITATIONAL SOCCER TOURNAMENT
DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA
DECEMBER 7 & 8, 2002
The tournament will be played under FIFA rules as modified by CYSA and with the following changes and additions:
1. All games will be considered FINAL and NO PROTESTS will be allowed.
2. Games
Age Group Preliminary Games Championship & Consolation Games
U10 2/20 min. halves 2/25 min. halves and 2/10 min. OT periods
and 2/5 min. sudden death periods. If still tied, teams are declared co-champions (or 3rd place).
** Under 10 boys and girls will be playing 8 a side. There will only be indirect free kicks; no direct free kicks and no penalty kicks. A second attempt of a throw-in will be allowed if necessary.
U12 2/25 min. halves 2/30 min. halves and 2/10 min. OT
periods and FIFA penalty kicks.
U14 2/30 min. halves 2/35 min. halves and 2/10 min. OT
periods and FIFA penalty kicks.
In the Preliminary games, ties will stand.
Participating teams will play with the players they had all year.
NO ADDS, ALL AGES, NO GUEST PLAYERS
3. Preliminary Games Points
A. Points will be awarded for each PRELIMINARY GAME according to the following schedule:
6 points for a WIN
3 points for a TIE
0 points for a LOSS
1 point for BONUS for each goal scored up to a maximum of 3 per game.
B. A team may accrue a maximum of 9 points per game.
C. 8 points will be awarded for a FORFEITED game (score 2-0).
D. NO POINTS will be awarded if NEITHER team shows up.
E. ONE (1) POINT will be deducted for a RED CARD.
4. Advancement to the Final Games
A. Each team will play three preliminary games, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. A team that wins all 3 preliminary games will play in the Championship game against the winner from the other bracket, regardless of points.
B. If no team in the bracket wins all of its preliminary games, the point leader after the preliminary games from each bracket, per age group, will advance to the Championship game.
C. The team with the second highest number of points in their bracket will advance to the Consolation game.
5. Tie Breaking Procedure
If teams are tied in points at the conclusion of the preliminary round the following will be employed to determine which teams advance to the next round:
A. Head-to-Head record;
B. Team with the most wins;
C. Goals Against the team with the least goals scored against them will have the highest standing;
D. Goals For the team with the most goals scored (up to 3 per game maximum) will have the highest standing;
E. If the TIE still exists in the U10 age division, a flip of the coin will decide who advances. The team traveling the farthest to the Tournament will make the call.
F. If the TIE still exists in the U12 or U14 age division, FIFA penalty kicks at a time and location designated by the Tournament Director.
The Tournament Director will make the final decision on all finalists.
6. Forfeiture
A. Any team not ready to play 5 minutes after the scheduled starting time with a minimum of seven (7) players will forfeit the game. The official score for the game will be 2-0. Total points are 8.
B. If any team falls below seven (7) players during a game, the game is over and the team with less than seven (7) players automatically forfeits. The official score will be 2-0.
C. The Referee at his discretion may terminate the game and award a forfeiture if:
A team leaves the field during the game without the approval of the referee.
Alcoholic beverages are observed.
A team is sent from the field by the referee for violent play, and/or misconduct by the coaches, players or fans.
7. Substitution Rules
A. Unlimited substitution allowed:
Prior to your teams throw in;
Prior to a goal kick, either team;
After a goal by either team;
At half time;
During injury time out, either team.
B. No Substitution
A RED CARDplayer may not be substituted. A RED CARD player or coach has an automatic ONE game suspension. The Tournament Director may impose additional game suspension if deemed necessary.
8. Rain
In the case of rain, each half may be shortened at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
9. Home Team (Game Card, Jerseys, Ball, etc)
The team listed first on the schedule will be designated the home team.
The home team will be responsible for the game card.
The home team or the team with reversible jerseys will change jerseys if there is a conflict of colors.
The home team in the championship games shall be from the Green Bracket.
The home team in the consolation games shall be from the White Bracket.
The home team will supply the game ball subject to the approval of the referee. The visiting team will also have a game ball available for use at the referees discretion.
10. Sideline Assignment
Players and coaches (with coaches passes) from both teams will be assigned to one side of the field. All spectators will remain on the opposite side of the field.
11. Sportsmanship and Conduct
Good sportsmanship will prevail at all times. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, parents and spectators. Possession or consumption of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES is expressly prohibited on any of the fields or on any of the sites being used for this tournament. Any team (including players, coaches, parents or fans) violating this rule will be immediately expelled from the tournament, a report will be sent to CYSA and will not be invited back to this tournament.
12. Game Cards and Publicity
Game cards will be distributed to the home team coaches at the Friday night Coaches meeting. Referees will be responsible for turning in completed game cards at the tournament headquarters or to the field marshal. It is the responsibility of the winning team with the cooperation of the losing team to fill out publicity forms and turn them in at the publicity box.
13. Awards
A. Every player and coach will receive a participation pin.
Individual trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place team in each age group.
B. The award ceremonies will take place immediately following each final game.
14. Authority
Interpretation of these rules, and questions regarding matters not specifically addressed herein, will be referred to the Tournament Director for resolution. THERE WILL BE NO PROTESTS ALLOWED.
